fellas I need a bit of help with a block of wood .:D
While looking around under the metal lathe bench for a lost just made bush for my penmill I found a block of wood I bought about 10 years ago its labeled Native tassie olive...its a 7 kg piece and I will probably take a slice off it tomorrow as it is still waxed to see how the grain looks.
any idea of its botanical name and if its good for bowls or some such?

Pete, Native Olive, Olea paniculata is quite a hard and dense timber, greyish in colour. Not one of my favourites.
