Yes, this is the very first box I've ever made. It is cedar with a pine top and bottom and pine keys. It is lined with cedar as well (from the same block of wood), and the bottom lining is book-binders leather. Just a simple lift off lid. Finished with three coats of Danish oil (sanded with 1000) and simple furniture wax. This is a very simple box, made to the specifications of the project at the woodwork classes I'm attending, and made with common Australian timbers, but I quite like it. It seems to have a 'rightness' about it. And of course I'm foolishly proud of it because it is my first....

This one and the second box that I've posted are both made from the same two pieces of wood - a cedar chunk and a piece of pine.

I gave this one to my darling.

My first attempt fell to bits - poor timber selection, so I learn from you and others who post thier results.:o
