G/Day !.
I was one of the participants of the Duck Flat Spring School , and I got a fair way to building a PDR !.
It was very handy having experienced boatbuilders on hand , especially MIK , keeping me from doing anything TOO stupid !.
I built it to introduce me tp boatbuilding , and then to boating/sailing.
So far , I reckon I made the right decision !.

Something that struck a cord with me at the spring school was the generosity of professional boatbuilder/school instructor David who brought along a heap of his tools for us learner butchers to mess up !.
Like the Japanese saws.
I'd read about them , but never used them before , and they proved to be a very useful tool , but vulnerable to abuse , and too expensive for that !.
When I got home I tried to find a source of Japanese saws , but without success.
I finished up at (shudder) Bunnings , and they had a few "pull saws".
I finished up getting 2 sizes of a Supercraft "Sabretooth" , 'cos they were cheap , and worth a try , I thought.
The smaller one has really worked well for me , its a 6 1/2 inch with a super thin blade , and has done very good work on ply , so far.
And it cost all of $8 !.
The blade is well held , but button released , so maybe blades could be gotten even cheaper !.
I believe its excellent value for money !.
And maybe the perfect tool for school "butchers"<VBG>.
Has anyone else used them ?.

A browse through any of the online cattledogs will find the saws you seek, then an application of VISA via online or phone.
Carbatec Melb would probably be the quickest, not sure if Jim Carroll has them or not, Timbecon WA, starts for starters.
They are nice to use aren't they:)

...or (to support a Forum supporter), ask Brendan (Felder) if he is still selling them (much cheaper and easieer to fit into a small shed than his other tools....). I am very happy witht he three i bought from him when I didn't win the draw where they were the prize
