I have just started turning and about to attempt my first bowl. Have been using Organoil burnishing and woodturning oil but would like to get a higher shine finish. I have no spraying gear so any advice would be great

Welcome Dingo, You have come to the right place...

You would be well advised to get some of neil's good goo as soon as possable, and a copy of his book.

I started turning about a year ago and the best advise I got was to sand to the finest grade possable (in my case I have down to 2500) and then finish with a good friction polish.

Neil's SHELLAWAX and EEE are the best I have come across.

However if the bowls are for a food finish, I belive that a good coat of vgitable oil or grape seed oil is a good way to go.
