Would like to show you some of my work, and would appreciate any feed-back / suggestions.
Just completed the second of these, and am about to start the third, to be made with two complementary benches.
The first two were 2400 x 1080. the next is to be 2100 x 1080.
They are made from re-cycled 70 yr old Tas. Oak, 30mm thick. The timber came from floorboards at the old Kinnear's Rope Works. The table is skip-dressed, French polished, and waxed.
The photo was taken with a flash, and makes the colour more red, than it actually is.

Feedback = wow

Questions = what did you use for the thick frame pieces? and what is skip dressed?

Looks excellent

Dave,

The vertical timber is 4 of the 135 x 30 boards, laminated 2x2.
The "feet" are 2 boards laminated, as is the spreader or rat-rail.

"Skip-dressing " is leaving in the timber all of the original distress marks. The piece was belt-sanded to remove dirt etc, taking care not to remove the "nice" character, then further sanded with an orbital sander in preparation for the French Polishing.

Thanks for your feed back
Regards
Mick

Very nice work. I can't tell from the photo, did you use a through tenon on the spreader ?

4 x 12.5 mm dowel each end, thro' vertical boards and then 75mm into spreader. Makes sure the bugger won't move !
