From what I've been told before - and basic physics/laws *cough* it's probably more cost effective and nearly as good to just go with a good bright white acrylic roofpaint. I've seen people citing that the acrylic option doesn't provide quite as much insulation as the insultec but it's still quite high and most certainly effective.

Consider that it's all about reflecting the heat/light away, a bright white paint definately will deflect a lot of the light - of course, how effective for infrared is another question.

Hope that helps.

Trying to blind your neighbours? :p

Bright white roof paint / colorbond or whatever, is not permitted (in these parts anyway).....

That's an interesting point. I suppose the insultec paint while being white provides a more diffuse reflection than flat acrylic?

I did forget about the whole neighbours thing.

I can't understand the trend for black roofs. Its worse than a black car. I saw a brand new black roof on a house in Cobar the other day... Madness!
