Hi All,

My MC1100 motor has died.
It had that terrible burnt electrical smell.
I've taken to get it fixed but was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences?

Any idea on costs?
I have a feeling it'll be pricey

thanks - GC

Hi GC if you do a search of the forum theres has been several posts about MC1100 motors and their replacement...I think $75 was mentioned.

Hi

The motor on my MC900 died earlier this year, nasty smells, very hot. After much discussion took it to a local place that sold and repaired electric motors and it turned out to only be the condenser. $44 to replace on the spot now seems fine.

The smells and heat apparently due to the motor trying to work on only one of its two windings. May be worth finding someone who can look at it. (Only you have to actually get the thing off - the whole lathe is a bit heavy to move!!)
