Just finnished buffing out a neck and after an hour or to noticed I
got a few splodges of cutting compound and it has [not surprisingly]
got into the grain and it reall sticks out. I noticed when I
first bought the neck it had a couple of spots where the same thing
was evident. Obviously I have put the icing on the cake now.

I bet I aint the first who done that.
How can I get it out?? or cover it up??

I'd go for picking it out Ray, with a needle or a scalpel. I know it doesn't sound like a nifty idea, but it works for me! I paint fretboards with white paint to mark out for inlay, then have to deal with the bits that are still in the grain when its sanded flat. Its faster than you'd think, depending on your eyesight!

Get a set of coloured textas, and use the tip of the appropriate colour to colour your spots. A bit of a rub with some fingerboard oil should hide any trace.

Thanks for those suggestions.

I thought before I start scalpeling or dabbing with texta i would try belting it with a good stiff nylon brush. I got most of it out. I then went over the board very lightly with some fingerboard oil and its come up a treat.
