My mate asked me last night if i could help himput a new keel on his boat as the old one has rotted off.
The boat is 18' and moored in Brisbane Waters (Central Coast NSW).
The Keel is about 1 metre long and also supports the rudder bracket.
I am considering either brass or stainess steel bolts as the mild steel ones in situ at present have rusted out.
Can anybody advise me on the best timber to use for this job.
It will spend it's life submerged and I am quite aware that a very good protective paintjob will be necessary.
Thankyou for any assistance
Arthur
