Hello to your all.

I am about to buy plans to build the flapdoodledinghy, from http://flapdoodledinghy.com/index.htm.

Has anyone else built one ?

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

I have just joined today so I could tell members about the free woodworking plans, site that I use.

Only to discover you have an excellent section on boat related stuff.

The site I just mentioned is http://absolutelyfreeplans.com/

Thank you all for your time.

Kind Regards

DenoHank

A folding beastie eh? Like to share with us why? (not a criticism, just interested).

And yes, the resources here are pretty broad. We've got experts in every field - some of them even know what they are talking about

I can't help with this design as I don't know it and I've never built a folding boat. However, there'll be quite a few questions I (and others) can answer so ask away ... and if we don't have an answer, we can usually have a go at making one up :D

That makes a lot of sense. If a person is looking for a dinghy and use a mid size boat, then storage on deck is an issue for inflatables. Also inflatables always has the issues of leaks. Inflatables when on anchor, if deflated needs a lot of work to deploy and go ashore.

Also on the inland areas of our world, portability with trailers and johnboats creates issues. I don't know the boat in this link. But there are many nesting dinghies around that are built and comes apart in two pieces and sits within itself. But still you have issues of storage. So I see pluses, if the build and application works.
