youll need an app like power director pro that creates DVD's

some dvd players will recognise MPG format DVD's too. best res is if you convert to MPG2 format.

Nero Burning CDROM should be able to handle this and is a commonly available SW pkg.

A good DVD player should handle VideoCDs & SuperVideoCDs but as they're becoming "old hat" I'm not sure if newer players even bother to support 'em anymore. MPEG1 is "the" format for VCDs and MPEG2 for SVCDs, but from memory Nero will convert .AVIs, .MOVs & .ASFs on-the-fly as part of the compilation process.

I think it needs an optional plugin to burn to video DVDs, but I could be wrong... I don't normally use it. The SW I do use is beyond most people's requirements (and budget.) :rolleyes:

DVD burners usually come with some sort of software package which will do the job, typically, Nero or perhaps Power DVD.

I wouldn't expect much in the way of quality however. The original files in DVD quality were about 10 times the size of the files we set up for downloading.

I have been watching all of them on TV. My PC display card also has a composite video output. I understand that most do nowadays. (Look for a yellow RCA socket on the rear of your PC next to where you hook your minitor in.) Feed this output directly into the Video In socket on a TV (usually yellow) and also your PC sound output (Red & White). Select the correct A/V input on your TV (if more than one.) Then simply play your videos on your PC using Windows Media Player or the like. You may also have to set up your PC video to work with another monitor (look under display setup on your control panel) Works a treat for me.

I have also copied the collection to DVDs for posterity, but it is not necessary if you have a TV close to your PC, and it does away with the need to create and burn the DVD.

The quality is variable but most are quite OK.

You don't have to. It will reformat your entire disk automatically at midnight on 31st January. :cool:
