On Saturday I visited a timber dealer. There were some recycled pieces of a tropical timber called rengas (renghas) for sale. I asked if there were any health issues with working this timber and was told that there were none - so I bought some. A few minutes ago I did google search - and found there were lots of sites describing this tree as being dangerous - or severly irritating in its green form. Dried, it may or may not be harmful. Has anyone had any experience with it ?

It looks great, I would like to use it if at all possible but not if its going to damage my health.

cheers

Some saps are particularily corrosive/acidic/etc so while wet pose a problem, however once dry the only problem is dust.

Fibres of any sort in your lungs are BAD.
