Do you want to finish while green, or simply rough to shape to speed up drying?

BTW, for turning green Camphor Laurel you really need good ventilation for the shed! :D

pretty ambitous there buddy, u will only be abe to rough turn the sheok and then dry it by air or in kiln, it 'will' split no matter what u do so be carefull with it. It dont behave like other wood when drying. has a very high contraction ratio along the grain.

The jarrah could be fine as most eucalypts are pretty good turned green, keep an eye on it tho.

The camphor is not too splitty but pretty toxic it should dry ok once turned, turning green and curing in its own shavings might help..;-)

there area various techniques such as wet drying <?>, oil drying, sugar drying etc,low heat kilns, rough turning and air drying is probably the most reliable, u just gotta try a few different things

no wood will dry fast mate, not that i know off, all wood will warp when drying to some extent..so once turned it will chnage shape a sit dries, if u want that natural warpy look then u will be fine but if u want em to look like well proportioned turned peices, thay will need to dry

have fun

hi michael , just turned a bowl of green camphor laurel , nice aroma but just watch the out the shavings leave a very slippery residue on the floor , once they have been walked on , soapy water soon fixed the problem, regards ian
