View Full Version : Where to buy Wet & Dry in higher grades?

Any ideas where I can buy the higher grade wet & dry from. I can only seem to find up to 1200 grit here in Adelaide, and I would like to be able to get much higher grades.

I've been to most of the local paint outlets as well as Bunnings and other hardware stores, and am running out of ideas as to where to search next.

Thanks
John

Go to somewhere that sells the stuff for car paint repairs and resoration - all the panel beaters use very fine Wet & Dry. Super Cheap Auto may even have it.

Cheers

Hi Jeremy,
I have not looked at super cheap auto, so perhaps I will go for a drive. I know repco don't because I have been to them also.

I cannot even seem to find 3M or Norton suppliers, or even if they do make the higher grades.

Thanks
John

Hi Jeremy,

Don't bother, go to a proper automotive paint place, one that sells to the panel beaters.

Try your craft stores. "Woodcraft.com. has the Micro-Mesh Sanding Kit from 1500 grit to 12000 item #142940. I've used mine for over a year [getting wore out] & can be used wet or dry. Around here, auto body shops don't use finer paper than 1000 then they use a rubbing compound.

Hi Trevor,

I have now had a look thanks to you, and indeed they have more wonderful things there than you can poke a stick at, and a lot more things that I will be also adding to the wish list.

Many Thanks

I was able to get all that I wanted at Webber Abrasives. They were very helpful with good service, and as I said the other day, they have a large
amount of other goodies also.

Thanks

Today I discovered that you can get higher grades of Wet or Dry (up to 2500 grit) and polishing paper from House of Jewellery (http://www.hoj.com.au/images/catalogue/1f786e37f5ccdc71c978b858d75feebb.jpg) in York Street, Sydney.

So your local jeweller's supplier may be worth a look.

They also have very groovy tools.

Our local Supercheap stocks up to 2000 grit, the quality is good and the prices are hard to beat.
