Does anyone have some detailed instructions or a turtorial on turning a European Style pen? I'm not real sure about the proper turning steps and bushing/mandrel set up.

Thanks,
Steve

You can scroll through this list (http://www.augumspenworks.com/instruction.page.htm) or this one (http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/catalog/instructions.html) to see which one matches your kit

I had bought a European Style Pen w/Roller Clip kit from Woodcraft.com and bought the bushings to match. Well, it has four bushings. Looks like two end bushings for the cap and nib and then a reducing bushing and what appears to be a center band sizing bushing. After studying the bushing set for a while this is what I've come up with.

The biggest end bushing is for the cap or finial. The smaller bushing is for the nib. The reducing bushing has the smallest end facing the nib bushing with the larger end facing the cap and the center band bushing aslo facing the cap end. I guess I turn the top half down to the center band bushing and then remove the bushing to make the tenon down to the reducing bushing. I'm calling it a reducing bushing because it steps down to a smaller diameter. So, have I got this right?

Here's a drawing of the above:

This is probably gonna be a my first pen since I'm still waiting on my order to come in from PSI!:((

Thanks,
Steve

Roll Tide, I can't remember from one time to the next how to send attachments but try this site. It is by far the best I've found on pen instructions & very clear. The Designer & European pen is the same thing. Well, here goes......http://www.stinggroup.addr.com/projects/011401/despen.html...... If you turn the tenon a bit too small, the center on the kit will glue off center. The sleeve on the bushing kit should fit the tenon real snug.

I almost had it right. I had the stepped bushing facing the wrong way. I thought that the lower section kinda went up into the upper section. Thanks for that link Mobil Man. That made everything perfectly clear.

After studying the kit some more I did find out that the top of lower section does indeed fit just inside the center band. hmmm.
