Plastic brads and staples. I finally found where to get them in Aus.
Terry Parsons in Coffs.

I got his name from Chuck at Duckworks.

Terry has ben very helpful and prompt. I want to try them out in my next boat. I just finished a Larsboat and could have used them for it a few times.

What do you use to drive them in with?

I use a stock standard el-cheapo Brad nailer and an el-cheapo stapler that I got last week from Supercheap Auto. I just found one that the staples would fit in and then moderfied it by grinding off the outside of the follower because the staples are thicker, with an angle grinder and a file to polish it. You can see where I ground the sides of the slide.

You don't have to take them out. You can sand or saw or plane them and they don't rust.
