jaym 19th April 2007, 03:47 PM New member here, been reading for quite some time. This is a humidor I made for a friend of mine with the Philadelphia Eagles logo. Let me know what you think.
masoth 19th April 2007, 05:01 PM An impressive first post - welcome. Can you tell us some more about the box? The size, timbers used, etc.
soth:cool:
chrisb691 20th April 2007, 01:06 PM I would be happy with the result....well done.
jaym 20th April 2007, 01:49 PM Box is padauk, veneers are birdseye maple, walnut and wenge. Dimensions are 9"x 11"
DPerry 21st April 2007, 02:00 AM JayM, Great job:2tsup: , need more photos and larger ones.
Dennis
jaym 21st April 2007, 06:03 AM Thanks, here are a couple of more pics. Also included a second humidor I recently made for a wedding gift, not real crazy about how the top came out, but the flame maple looks cool.
AlexS 22nd April 2007, 06:58 PM I like that second humidor, especially the top. You might dislike it because it's not exactly what you expected, but I reckon it's great.
jaym 23rd April 2007, 08:41 AM Thanks for the kind words. The one I'm working on now is the most difficult by far, the US Marine Corps logo, over 200 pieces.
Harry72 24th April 2007, 10:55 PM Certainly some very nice work mate, looking forward to the next installment!
paul collins 28th April 2007, 08:07 AM very nice jayM looking forward to your marine logo.:2tsup:
jaym 1st May 2007, 05:31 AM Well the Marines humidor is just about finished, made a number of mistakes along the way, but I guess that is part of the process. The top is ash, dyed black, maple and some other stuff that I can't remember now. Box is maple burl with wenge accents.
DPerry 1st May 2007, 12:10 PM Hey Jaym, Looks good. I have attached a drawing Corel X3 If you can't open it let me know which program you use (if any). The drawing is a vector line drawing of a rope border, may be of some help? Anyway your work looks :2tsup:
Take care Dennis

jaym 1st May 2007, 02:35 PM Yeah, that's more what I was aiming for, I'll get it right next time. Forgive my ignorance, but what is a vector line drawing?
DPerry 1st May 2007, 02:54 PM Jaym, well it's used on cnc or laser cutting machines. Now, you don't think I cut 1,400+ parts on a scrollsaw:oo:
If you did, :2tsup: your work is fantastic:2tsup: :2tsup: and my drawing will not help.

jaym 1st May 2007, 04:47 PM Oh gotcha, I just use my little craft knife and a lot of patience.
jaym 2nd May 2007, 04:38 AM Here is a extremely blurry progress pic of my next one, the ribbon will wrap around all four sides of the box.
DPerry 2nd May 2007, 08:45 AM Great idea, waiting for photo:)

jaym 10th May 2007, 02:38 PM After much trial and error this is the design I've decided to go with, still in the beginning stages, but figured I would give you guys a sneak peak.

DPerry 11th May 2007, 03:31 AM JayM, Great job:2tsup:
