Hello All :)

Has anyone any recommendation on furniture design software suitable for a dummy  either free or up to $50 that would suit small box and furniture design
Would prefer metric system with a 3d view and a cutting list
Am considering the South Australian "Homia"system priced at $50.00 (www.homia.com.au (http://www.homia.com.au/))
Any thoughts will be appreciated
Thanks in anticipation

I don't know about this package but on their website there is a link to a review done by Online Tool Reviews.

For your info Online Tool Review is done and maintained by a well respected member of this board and any recommendations by Dean I would suggest you can accept without question as his reviews are always done independantly of the manufacturer concerned.

Hope that helps making your decision.

Whats wrong with using SketchUp? $0....

I think you can probably wring a cutting list out of it if you draw it correctly.

yes i have a free one i use, it's called imagination it comes direct from the head, and it's ploted on a piece of paper or sometimes the back of a naptkin at lunch...i tryed some software but this ancient method works better for me..

even architects and designers use this sophisticated methed...

if that does'nt work for you google 'free 3D software' or something like that, there are quite a few out there , you just got to try them to see what suits you...start with Sketchup, as sugested above.

best of luck and be sure to post some of your creations on the forum...

Homia is OK. I've used it. There is a more comprehenisve one out -- free I think -- at www.sketchlist.com (http://www.sketchlist.com). They're looking for testers.

It's different than Homia in that it knows about joints and drawers and such.:U

Hope this helps,

Dave
