I am planning a residential building that is besser block construction.

The front of the building has half round windows above the main windows and I am unsure of how these curves can be achieved using bessers.

Would it be accepted to place the besser lintel 2-3 courses above the window and have Hebel blocks cut to shape around the curve between the window and the besser lintel ?

This would give me a solid surface around the window for rendering purposes.

Thanks

p.s. 1st post here !

Hi.

Hebel would be ok, so would brick.

If its being rendered the rough cuts of the besser against the brickwork wont matter.

OK, so you mean place bricks round the arched tops of the windows ?

How can the windows support the weight of the bricks ? I thought of hebel as it is quite lightweight or should I be using some sort of rounded steel lintel or similar ?

Thanks

you have to make an arched profile for the bricks to sit on while being laid, once set it can be removed.

Brickwork in the main is self supporting when set.

Make the profile from 12mm MDF.
