powderpost 13th May 2007, 09:45 PM Simomatra, Nice job, simple clean lines, well finished both over and under.
Terry B, crows ash is a part of the flindersia family, a cousin to Queensland maple, silver ash and hickory ash.

It was nice timber to turn it can be a little hard on the tools as apparently it has a high silica content
Thanks Jim for answering Terry
DJ’s Timber 14th May 2007, 07:54 PM Lovely work Sam, the Crows Ash has also got some nice figuring in it too
Doc Ron 15th May 2007, 12:54 AM I like the "flying saucer" shape. Good work.
robynmau 16th May 2007, 05:08 PM Hi Sam
I think the wood talked you into that shape, both are beautiful:rolleyes:
Cheers

BernieP 16th May 2007, 06:17 PM G'Day Jim
That's a nice dish and I too like the foot. I have been doing a few bits in rose ash (flindersia laevicarpa) and certainly seems to be a nice family of wood.
Cheers
Bernie
