Sorby RS2000 System

Is this system as good as it appears in the advertising? I'm considering buying it. Is it worth the money?

Leon, I dont have one myself but looking around on the net. There are many who claim to use it and give it high praise of its versatility.
Having had a look at the kit its certaintly comprehensive and being a Sorby tool it will be well crafted.

yes this system is good but remember you are scraping with this tool , not cutting but with a 19mm bar who cares just keep your tools sharp .

I have looking at different types as well. whilst The Sorby looks good love that sexy box but it comes really at the end of my list due to its cost.

I have the vermec system & only use parts of it.

Have you had a good look through the threads on hollowing & tools on this forum before you go out & spend that much?

That Sorby tool looks like a fine one for hollowing, etc.
I use the Scorpion, by Don Pencil >> http://www.donpencil.com <<, and I like it a lot. It does not come with a coring bit, but at less than half the cost of Sorby I do not mind (Looks easy to make a straight coring tool). Shipping to you in OZ could be a small problem, but there is still a large cost difference. Pencil also sells Scorpion tools that have manufacturing blemishes for a fair discount. That is how I got my Scorpion set, new (blemished) for $165 USD ($200.95 AUD). The blemish turned out to be a small area of industrial chrome plate that did not take, but still it is guaranteed like a full price new set.
