canvas canoe

i am about to cover a small canoe with canvas. I have never used this technique before. Can anyone help with advice? Pitfalls?
Does anyone have a recipe for "Dope", or can anyone point me to a source of supply?

Hey there Bobbo..... Mate your very best option is to get hold of your local experimental aircraft association. I know there are a couple in Queensland... one is in Cairns... Anyway, they often use canvas and dope on the wings of the 'planes that they build. There are some excellent guys who would be able to give you the gen in no time flat.

Failing that you can buy dope from model aircraft stores, but I think you would have to varnish that 'cos I don't know how waterproof it is.....

Brad, you little beauty! I must be getting old, mate. I didnt give airplane associations a thought.
I,m just taking off on a short cruise in my little boat. The canoe project is on hold until I return.
I will follow your advice and keep you posted on how I get on.
