You know the one that is in the CD player in the car for about a fortnight before you get around to changing it.

I have a couple that can go around & around & around without me even noticing it or getting sick of it.

The ones I find that stay the longest are mostly instrumentals.

Gypsy Flame by Armik
Rubia also by Armik
The colour of Love by Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters.

The ones that aren't instrumental that get to go around several times are,
Bad Weather Blues by Bondi Cigars
Unplugged by Eric Clapton

Hi

Even though I am an avid Pink Floyd and Dire Straits fan, the two artists that I can listen to incessantly are...

Andreas Volenweider...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Vollenweider

and Yanni

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yanni

Both are instrumental genre and each have a unique blend of musical abilities.

Yanni's BEST track (IMHO of course) is "Standing in Motion" his own composition - this man is a musical genius :2tsup:

NOT Savage Garden, HI Five, Bjerk, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Jet, or any other arty farty bloomin' girl band or boy band rubbish.

Pete I have to take you to task on that. I would not describe Jet as an arty farty boy band and if you like AC/DC, then you have something in common with them because it comes out loud and clear in songs like Last Chance and Cold Hard B****

I can listen to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band all day. I have 23 albums by Bruce but my favourite is "Live 75 - 85" 3 cd's. Followed by "78 Tracks".

Best thing is my MP3 player in my Calais that will hold 6 discs with up to seven albums on each disc. Not too bad when there's over 800 songs to choose from while cruising this great expanse.

Punks not Dead is a catchy little song but I couldn't put my finger on the artist .... Darren Hanlon is on the to get list.

....... Darren Hanlon is on the to get list.......

Good little game that one namtrak ..... just like Spicks and Specs ...... mmmm Myf. Perhaps we should run a seperate thread on cover versions :D

I missed Darren Hanlon when he came to Albury a few months back -$5 cover charge

But I did see JBT at Grooving the Moo along with Hilltop Hoods, Youth Group, You am I etc. It was the first time I had seen You Am I in and I gotta say that Tim Rodgers is a fantastic piece of work. At one point some clown in the crowd was jumping all over everyone (all ages so a lot of little kids - including mine) and Tim Rodgers stopped the show and started into the bloke "you eff in idiot why not ff off and stop jumping all over the kids you ff dumb prick etc" etc and then he apologised for swearing saying he had kids and knew it was bad karma and then he started into this bloke again - screaming his head off "you fff wit if you really want to get it on this is how we get it on" and then he jumped about four feet into the air and come down playing this big steel guitar like some crazy Hendrix flashback - I nearly wet my pants - thought it was superb!!!!!

And I agree Myf is the drinking mans' muse!!!!

Brilliant album. I have the vinyl box set and is a treasured possession. My favourite on that box set is his version of Tom Waits, Jersy Girl. My favouritre Album of his is Nebraska.

Here is an old (scratchy) version of Tom Waits singing it. My all time favourite song:wink:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5DPRmcq6cw

I got the box set given to me in 1986 by my mum for xmas. I was sixteen and have listened to this album for 200 years now.
A nice glass of red, listening to Sandy then Jersey girl still takes me to my happy place.:U

G'day,

The Division Bell, Pink Floyd
Radio Kaos, Roger Waters
On an Island, David Gilmour

really anything by Pink Floyd or the above two blokes who are ex-Pink Floyd. It all depends on the mood I'm in to which album Ilisten to, sometimes I love to play "Run Like Hell", Pink Floyd full boar and make the shed shake off it's foundations. Other times if I'm sad maybe "The Final Cut", Pink Floyd.

Hi Pricey,

I like your taste in music but your car . Although I have never owned one I know a few who have and they are money eaters. I remember seeing one report stating that the Calais was one of the 10 worst cars ever to be allowed to be sold here in OZ.

I assume your cruising aren't over many kms?

Hi Peter,

It appears we have similar tastes in that I am an regular player of Pink Floyd & Dire Straits music as well as listening to instrumental music but my top 3 are

Mike Oldfield - Just ask Sir Richard Branson
Jean Michael Jarre - The best thing to come out of France
Ennio Morricone - the greatest composer of film & TV theme music

So that
When they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

And watching, for pigs on the wing.

I love that album.

I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow - Soggy Bottom Boys and Dan Tyminski Band

A dylan number, the band that does it in the film is Union Station isn't it? I have a dvd of Allison Krauss and Union Station and though blue grass aint really my thing, musically they are awesome.

OK computer is one hell of an album leading to the largest anti climax in recent musical history IMHO with kid A.

Abbey road, Sgt Peppers - Beatles
Sticky fingers, the stones
Grace, Jeff buckley

Whassa name of the Split enz album with I've got you, on it?

Ok computer is a bit of a sleeper .... when I first purchased it I wasn't all that impressed, but as with many albums if you really listen to it, it becomes one of the great albums (on my list of three). I don't mind Kid A, but not as much as Ok computer.

Deep Blues by Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters

Or, a recent favorite of mine, a pairing of my two favorite guitar players, Ronnie Earl and Duke Robillard.

I must be in a house/trance mood, as my recent high rotation list is heavily biased that way...

ATB - Seven Years DVD.
Deep Dish - George is on (I've had "Say hello" on repeat for 12-odd hours)
Chiasm - Isolated (from the "Vampire - the masquerade" RPG)
Creating Chaos - Clint Mansell (from the movie "Pi")

And I won't mention nearly two hours of remixes of New Order's Blue Monday (including the Gregorian Chant version)

And Sisters of Mercy for sing-along value.

I have just realised that I have reached new depths in laziness, as I downloaded a few songs rather than stand up, walk to the next room, and get the CDs.

Delicate sounds of Thunder - especially comfortably numb and learning to fly.

The other album is at the opposite end of the musical spectrum; it's called "Beyond Nature" by Phil Keaggy. Simply acoustic guitar only - listened to it through most of my thesis write up years ago and still love it.

If I can ever find it again, an album called Pan Pipes of the Andes,

That wouldn't be "Music of the Incas" would it?

A reconstruction of what they think is authentic Incan music, played on what they think are authentic Incan instruments, such as pan-pipes made from llamas leg-bones and banjo type thingys (highly technical musical term there.) made from the shells of armadillos?

Who really knows if they got it right? It's not like there's any Incas still around to ask... but it is a hauntingly lovely album if one is in the right frame of mind. :)
