View Full Version : Album Cover Versions

Ok .... hoping not to breach copyright ..... Its interesting how cover art can imprint on your brain. I spent may happy hours of my youth at "Market Music" in Ballarat flipping through second hand cds. After a while you got an understanding of cover art, instantly recognising the album and artist by just the quickest glimpse of the cd ..... even if you didn't like the album. So as a direct rip off of Spicks and Specks here is album cover versions ......

Do your best to guess the artist and the album. One point for each.

Use your memory only ..... better to have a guess and get it wrong than search through Itunes or Google.
(You will be the only one who knew you cheated!).

If you are planning to add more .... use a photo edit program to remove any hints if they are easy .... keep the file size small.

First five are a mixed bag some easy some not so ....
1.
2.
3. In Utero
4.
5. Clouds

I am the complete opposite, play the song and I can tell you the album - but show me the cover mmmmm

The first and fourth I see a lot but can't place them.

Good game this one

The Eels is the first, can't remember the album name.

Stinky, if you were a bit older you'd remember going down the record store and flipping through the 12" vinyl. So much better than CD's. The great artwork of records stopped with the CD. So did sound quality. It's a pity that vinyl was so fragile and they wore out.

And who could forget the back of Ego is not a dirty word with the fan letter and severed finger :D

Fan letter read - (with her severed finger sticky taped on)

Dear Skyhooks
I am not a bandmole, but because you are so fantabulous and so groovy, I just thought that I'd drop youse guys a shoort note to let you know I think off you all day at school (yuk) and all night. I can't sleep because I keep seeing FRED Fred is so beautiful and Greg looks very SPUNKY with make-up on, but I hope you don't think I don't love you all. I am writting this letter mostly because I've been thinking and dreaming about all you guys for ages. You all make me feel so good I now that I had to give youse guys a toko toka memento so you could see how much I love you all and I wi a little part of me would allways be with SKYHOOKS I would love to be all your girlfriend (if you know what I mean) but I hope this is enough lots of love and hit records
love Denise
PS, look for me at the dance on Saturday. I will wave.

Grunt, Re vinyl. You can still pick up a fair bit that is still decent, a lot of the capital cities have secondhand record shops (been to most of them, 'cept Canberra and Darwin)
Some artists are also releasing a limited number of albums on vinyl as well.
To actually sit down and take the time to listen to music, I prefer to get out my records, they sound so much better.

I think it is a difficult one as we seem to stradle quite a few age groups and music types ...... I was concerned that mine were too easy, but at least there were a few guessed. As for yours I am none from all :oo:

I did get the ABBA one but much to late for a prize.

The fourth one above reminds me of some of the old Led Zepellin albums. The Doors and Chisel well self explanatory. What about bringing back some of the Barking Spiders covers *LOL*

We're shopping around a bit on Number 9.

Could be either Pink Floyd, but we suspect it's something more recent - Metallica?

Either way it looks familiar.

Good guess ..... Metallica Master Of Puppets from 1986 :oo: .... great album and just as good t-shirt (unfortunately it is now garage wear .... but it will feature in a bandsaw box making video in the near future).
