Is it really worth the effort?
You can get new ones on ebay under $600 au including postage with spare lamp.

Check out Barry White's extensive thread following his construction a few years ago.
Maybe with prices so low it isn't any more, but I gather the quality of the home-builts is waaaay more than you get for $600.

I too also built one and found it to be an interesting project. i now own a crt projector now. i too have a thread on Lumen lab.

You lucky bugga! Looked at a couple of 2nd had units before I bought my Hitachi (LCD). Absolutely sensational (sony from memory).
But the cost / size / weight / missus all said no.

I picked up an older model off ebay . JVC(rebadged panasonic) . works great and best of all no freight to get it as was only 1hrs drive from home :)
