I love you tube so much for music, and all the song threads where people tell us there fav songs, well how bout showing us. Everything you like will be on you tube so its just a matter of looking and posting.

A few i like

Dave Warner from the Suburbs, oldie and goldie:)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW-voCYRO5k (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW-voCYRO5k)

And who could forget Jimmy and the Boys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2VqDy4hAIA

And a great live version of the River with Bruce Springsteen and Sting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDjQRgoOcpk&mode=related&search= :)

I had this on another thread so will put it here. Nirvana and the Man who sold the world
www.youtube.com/watch?v=209ArurxVG4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=209ArurxVG4)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8npK1q6LY9Q&mode=related&search=

And some classic 70`s rock Uriah Heep and Gypsy

I think you're hooked :D

I downloaded the one with Sting and Bruce, it was excellent.

I've got the Cheap Thrills LP somewhere, it was a classic. I still play 'Ball and Chain' with the lights off and a glass of port in hand.

I love this one....

Funny as i was just watching that video as i clicked on this post :)

It is addictive if you like music because there is nothing that isnt on it. And listening to one song and clicking on the side bar brings up a whole new section. You can listen to Bowie now and in an hour be listening to the Greatfull Dead. I love it

Another of my favs too. :2tsup:

But I nearly always finish a music night with 'Brothers in Arms'.

I had the Uriah Heep LP too - Salisbury. Lady In Black is another classic.

Well this one is the ultimate Pink Floyd Video:2tsup:

As we all know (as legend has it) Dark Side Of the Moon was recorded whilst the Wizard of Oz was played over and over in the studio, and syncronising the two (starting on the 3rd MGM roar on the movie) makes it the ultimate video clip all in scync. Its always good fun to see how many similarities you can pick up.

So grab the port, turn the lights out, click on full screen and turn the volume up:D

Ive posted the 2nd and 3rd episode of "Dark Side of the Rainbow" as they are my favourite and the rest are in the side bar. The 2nd is evil and 3rd is very spooky. Great stuff

And i used to start Money when Dorathy opend the door and it went from black and white to color:? In this version they start about 10 seconds later. Strange.

YouTube doesn't work at work anymore. :(

I think the powers that be have put a block on it. The search still works but the vids don't play.

Must want us to do work or something.

Of course, I can always get the YouTube URL of the vid and then go to YouTubeX to download it. They don't seem to have sussed this loophole yet.

I agree that it's a great music archive though.

That's the advantage of working for a small company. As long as the work gets done and nobody takes the , there's a fair bit of lee way for things like this. If I sat here all day watching You Tube, there would be consequences: I'd have to work twice as hard tomorrow, and we can't have that :)

My 14 year old son discovered You Tube and would watch/listen to his favourite songs over and over. He totalled up a massive download in terms of Gb, which ran us over our limit. Started to get expensive.

I installed Video Piggy, about $25, and this permits me to copy the You Tube videos and also convert them for use on the PC or iPod. If you are a big You Tube user, you may want to check out this option.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt5uSx3eFYU may not be everyone's idea of music, but it's music to my ears no matter what anyone else says! Starts off a bit too frantic for my taste, but soon settles into a beat that makes me... oooer! :-

:Dmate, you have your tank engine, and I'll have my Kylie.

I'm sure my toy would have the cheaper running costs.

On a more relevant to topic note... I'm a Pink Floyd type of guy and very, very few video clips can even vaguely approach what I can visualise for myself while sitting in a comfy chair in a darkened room, eyes shut and with influence of choice to hand. Fortunately, I'm not locked into one genre. :)

Here's a vid clip that I think is worth watching: the Stringfever Quartet's interpretation of Ravel's Bolero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5MLNMgpywk

Not quite as watchable, but still entertaining (for one viewing anyway) is their "History of Music"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG6Ef-NQCi4

And I always enjoy mixing up the new with the old. I can't stand Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but remix it as a Gregorian Chant and, well... judge for yourself!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z4_4M7BZ64 :thyel:

And has anyone here ever seen Slava Grigoryan live? Brilliant stuff! Enough so, that I bought his CD. I can't say this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVdxcwiZ6XI is a brilliant clip, it's just the Sunday proggy off TV, but it'll give you an idea of what he's about... Move over Tommy Emmanuel! :D

(And talking of whom... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7wAEMIAhFs)

Sigh. Can you tell that I'm bored tonight?

........to get expensive.

I installed Video Piggy, about $25, and this permits me to copy the You Tube videos and also convert them for use on the PC or iPod.......

Derek

Thanks for the tip Derek, I was about to start googling for this sort of stuff.

Does the music quality translate okay?

I posted this you tube link in another thread. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=wcP4S3M3oU4) Its a mob called Velvet Revolver (ex- Bums and Noses etc) doing Psycho Killer, they do other covers as well incl. Roadhouse blues but this is the only one they really nail.

Basing this song up sounds great, and for me is an improvement.

You can copy Youtube Vids using YouTube Grabber. You can play them with FLV Player. Both are free on the net.

Quality is the same as you see on YouTube, not great but it's OK. Not good enough to make a DVD or anything though.

you can also download them (as flv files) at youtubex.com.

Just cut and paste the youtube url into the download box on the site and Bob is your mother's brother. :)

There's also software around to convert flv's to MPG if that's what you want.

Some great talent on offer with all them videos. Don't we just live in the very best of times!

Here is a video showing off some of Keith Urban's great guitar playing skills. You guys might know him as Nicole Kidman's husband, or even as a re-hab lodger.
But I've always just admired his very basic, no frills guitar playing style.

Click on the link and see if it floats your musical boat.

If you want vocal range, and some good beat boxing, try Bobby McFerrin. Famous for his hit 'Don't Worry, Be Happy', he's does some amazing stuff;
Concert Solo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtXrKo8Btfc)

Thinkin' About Your Body (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV1SVBQaoCM&mode=related&search=)

And this one is quite cool. He really gets the audience into it;
