Very nice, love that wood. The wife gave me permission yesterday to buy some purple heart next time I'm at the wood shop. :hpydans:

How is it to work with? its to expensive to bugger up.

Benji.

I am only a novice turner so it may be my fault however i found it brittle to work with a very cranky grain in any direction.
That said it does come up a treat.
i am very pleased with the final product. I feel it is in the league of a salable item.

Great job Hagrid!
I LOVE to work with Purple Heart!
My missus is also a purple freak - which is why I tried my first piece (the one with squared collar below the rim)
Second pic I used an inlay of white resin - the contrast is wonderful.
Have made a few "Trumpet" shaped bowls with walls approx 1.5mm thick - timber worked well then.
Takes to EEE & Shellawax a treat!
Sorry don't have a pic of the trumpet bowls at present.

Hagrid - I hope your students were inspired. I love purple heart and envy those who have nice big pieces like that!

Ozartisan - that purple and white contrast is awesome!

Pieces to be proud of.

Hi I used purple hart on a number of occasions and found if you turner it on slightly faster spead it preforms better, but thats just my thoughts

Finally too a pic of the "Trumpet" Purple Heart.
This one has too large a foot for my liking - prefer the shape of the Sassafras bowl (as shown in the pic)
