I went to use my system restore to see if that would fix a PSPro bug.

But I don't have any prior dates in it.

(System Restore is turned on - in fact I rarely disable it)

Is there any way I can restore to an earlier date?

From memory, when you go into System Restore it only shows manually saved restore points. I'm pretty sure there's a switch to also show system-made restores.

I've been playing with different Linux flavours lately so it's also a possibility I'm confusing myself with one of them. :- I don't run WinXP on my home system (a matter of taste) and my laptop isn't here, so I can't do a simple check. But I think I'm on the right path(?)

Download ERUNT (free program) http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
wont fix your current problem but make life easier in the future for you. System restore is not as good as MS would have you believe. Also grab NTREGOPT while you are there.

I got it working again.

Can I keep a set of system restore folders on a cd or in a separate folder?

Bob,

Maybe you need something better, like disk imaging software to backup your system?
I use Acronis True Image and it allows me to access "virtual drives" of all the data in my backups.

Felixe.

when I load a program say psp for instance , after I register it if needed etc , I then send the "installer file" to my external hd for safe keeping ....and simply reinstall from there if I need too ....I also do a full back up on disc once a month just in case .....system restore uses a lot of memory that could be used elsewhere.....
