Hi all !

I'm searching for lathes with center distance 4 , 5 or 6 meters. We intend to build a log homes and chalets. We have some difficulties in finding proper offer and company from Europe. The raw logs will be processed by peeling their skin and afterwards they will be prepared for structuring.

If anyone can help please reply!

Probably easier to custom build one like did.
He is able to turn 13m lenghts.

Jim's probably right. Commercial lathes that size would most likely be metal lathes for turning cannon barrels, ship drive shafts, and such. And even those are often made to order, not off the shelf. As well as horribly expensive.

Hummmmmm. At first, I was thinking that dutty was an Oz term. But I see that its Bulgarian. In Oz, they call it a Dunny Lathe, right? :D Just funnin with ya. Yeah, what they said, build one.

Hallo illussion ,
For log house building , you may find the Logosol range of equipment in akin to what you are looking for .
They have log house molding attachments for their range of mills.
There is also an attachment for rounding logs 300mm dia. (16 sided ) .
It may be possible to round the log fully , by turning the spindle , as a final milling , and sand if needed , in the same manner .
Logosol are a Swedish company , who produce good quality , light weight, portable timber working equipment .
Cheers ,
Jock .

http://loghome.erato.bg/etapi.html follow the link

there is written: We use high quality softwood to build the houses from lumber logs with the trademark “Erato Log home”. The first stage from the preparation is the lathe turning. The wooden logs are lathed and turned into girders with a round profile and 22 cm diameter.

I need such lathe that is used to turn such logs.I'm looking for suppliers in Europe

Finally I found what I needed. It's a joinery machine that makes a large variety of details but I have to find more machines from that kind in order to get a profitable offer

Yeh I dont think the lathe on ebay would handle logs.
It more for turning spindles about the size of verandah posts of small sailing boat masts.

you'd squash it flat with the first log.

I think you will be custom building it somehow.

cheers
