Hi Guys
I am new here and have been reading all the discussion on dust cyclones. Wayne seems to be the expert on this subject. My question is ---Has anyone just bought the electric motor and fan and made the rest themselves? Would seem to be a nice little project to get into.
Thanks for all the help from the previous threads so far.

I didn't do it because a bit of research found that a motor and impeller would cost more than a 2 HP bag type machine!
Of course, if you had a cheap source of either component that would swing the argument in favour of DIY.

I bought a second hand 3HP unit that will be converted to a cyclone in the future. Even without the cyclone it as VAST improvement over the vacuum cleaner.

Cheers
