!!HUGE!! 5metre Wood lathe ! (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HUGE-5metre-Wood-lathe_W0QQitemZ320135794394QQihZ011QQcategoryZ84012QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Up for auction is this 5 metre wood lathe. Built by an engineer, this industrial lathe is versatile, strong, and powerful. With it's 2hp motor, I have turned 200mm x 200mm x 4M verandah posts, to the finest pens. Up to 300mm swing, and 4M between centres. The average verandah post is only 2.7M

Items included with this machine:

5M Engineer built wood lathe

2 x 1.54m Tool Rest

1 x 61cm Tool Rest

1 x 20cm Tool Rest

4 x Steady (to hold longer pieces of timber steady while turning.

Over 20 high grade chisels

Faceplate

3 Jaw chuck

2 x Tailstock

Several headstock drive pins

Heaps of extra tools and accessories (callipers, template for table legs and staircase components)

The lathe bed is 200mm x 100mm

I have been woodturning for companies for over 10 years and had this built to my special requirements. Initial cost of this lathe was over $3000 + tools. It has never missed a beat and has performed 100%. This is a one off unique machine! It can be used by the novice to the expert turner.
Item is located in Romsey Melbourne VIC

Must admit the headstock and tailstock look like standard Woodfast gear that has been mounted onto a custom made bed, but still would be a conversation point if it was in your shed

yep looks not unlike the one in a staircase joinery I know of.

and it only $510 at the moment.
I've been watching that one since it went up.
Not that I want it of even have anywhere to put it... but I'll be interested to see how much it goes for.

I think its a bit weedier than robo's..... or even the fabled " big blue lathe" of long ago.......what happened to the BBL...... surely it didn't end up as land fill.

cheers
