I know there are those of you out there who will get a chuckle out of this [go ahead].....
After considerable effort I have not been able to get the scary sharp method to the cutting hairs stage.
Just invested in a honing jig but my first attempt by hand went better.
Questions from a knucklehead
1 When lapping you only go one way? As in either pulling the blade towards or away from you?
2Do you angle the blade down over the side of the glass?
3Once you have that initial flat surface on the blade, then you need to rejig the blade again for the microbevel?
4To do the microbeveling how soft is soft?[so as not to take off the edge]

After a couple of very frustrating hours[yes i have heard it shouldn't take that long:o ]I need help!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE

Here's a comprehensive site that presents a modified Scary Sharp method.

I like this better than other sites I've visited because it presents the process in considerable detail. And the author, a Canadian:D I believe, has done a fair amount of research to back up the validity of his modifications.

I know this link works, but you will need to cut and paste it to the address line in your web browser.
