I have have a Wadkins Bursgreen jointer (230mm) I was lucky enough to buy because the hardware store didn't use it any more. I have been putting off the evil day of changing blades due to all the horror stories I have read about trying to get the new ones at the same height etc. When I got it apart I found there are springs under the blade and I had been given a blade setting jig. This jig sets the height of the baldes when it sits on the drum and the springs push the blades against it, two minutes and the blades are set. Just goes to show you shouldn't put off these jobs, you never know how easy it might be. Just as a gloat I paid $400 for this some years because it is 3 phase. They have a thicknesser I have my eyes on also but it still gets occasional use.

"Everything I like is either illegal, immoral or fattening"

I hope that applies to thicknessers and jointers......:D
