If you turn them have a super sucker dust extractor and wear a respirator. You have not seen such filthy dirty black all permeating dust until you turn one of these.

Sharp tools are the go. If they were dead they shouldn't need much attention at all.

do i need to remove the leaf end things and just turn the center or do you turn them leafs and all:?

They mainly consist of interwoven, tight "branches". Give them a haircut and turne whats left.

Saw a blokle turning some of this stuff near Pemberton once. His whole workshop looked like someone had blown a kilo of talcum powder out of the wrong end of a vacuum cleaner
