i have a 1936 chev sports roadster and was wondering if anyone new where i could get parts.

she needs some TLC.

Welcome to the sickness that is old cars.... Got a mate ion Adelaide that had one of those as his first car. It is now his daughters first car. Very pretty. His was that blue green color, but is now red. My grandfather also had one. I have a picture of my mother when she was about 8 standing on the running board.

Ok first step is to join the local club, they will have local contacts for supplying differing bits. If you cant find a local one CHACA (http://www.chaca.com.au/)(?) which is the Australia Classic Car club would be a good place to start, they will have a local chapter.

Further swap meetings are your friend, go to as many as possible, they are like forum BBQ's a good place to get together with like minded people and swap your crud for good stuff:;, I think there is a big one in Toowoomba each year, nowhere near Bendigo or Ballarat swaps, but they are a little far for you:U, and the only ones bigger than those two are in the states.

Be careful of ebay, as a lot of Aussie models were different to the US models and some stuff just doesn't fit

my farther got the car for free many many years ago. but the people he got it from had removed the diki seat to use the back for storage.

it will also need many engine parts as well as some new panels. will know better4 when i get strted and pull it to bits but just thaught I'd see how avalable parts were.

i will take a pic of what mine looks like and then you will see how mutch work there is to do.

Its a 6 Cylinder chev, you could probably virtually buy a new engine:U. Parts are pretty available, panels may be you r only problem, so rust would be a cut and shut job. It doesn't hurt to get to know a model specialist, they will know what modern parts you can substitute (for example we use a Holden 1 tonner clutch plate in the Graham). It makes it much easier to go to the local supercheap and say I want a HQ clutch plate, cause they look at you strangely when you ask for one to fit a Graham:U

At a guess about twice as much work as you think and about 4 times the money you have budgeted and thats being conservative...

Dicky seats are fairly easy, just line the lid with ply, glue some foam, cover, repeat...

Oh dear. Another one....
I have a 36 roadster. Almost complete but a bit rusty.
I am searching for running boards (only) if you know where I can get some, I have quite a few bits to trade.
I know of two (at least) in Canberra - one being rodded, one on the NSW coast, one up near the Qld border - so far.
Do you have the history of your's?

I would suggest contacting the Vintage & Veteran Chevrolet Association of Australia.

They have a regular monthly magazine, that they can possibly put a WTB ad into for you.

I had 2x 6cyl motors complete, rear end, front end, plus heaps of parts too.

They all went for scrap......:no:
