What I'm after is a program that will let me manipulate a digital photo of the outside of my house so I can try out different colour schemes for the walls/windows etc.

I'm sure PhotoShop would be perfect for this but I don't want have to fork out for PS so I'm looking for a freebie. :)

Any recommendations? Do any of the paint manufacturers have such a program for instance.

It would be great if I could import say, Duluxe's colour charts.

one of the paint manufacturers had something like this, don't know if it used your photo though. have a trawl through their websites (I am thinking it was Dulux)

Looks to be just the ticket Pete. Thanks! :)

Good things come in big packages! :D

If you haven't already, try the web version before you download if size is a problem.

I don't know why the other big boys haven't done something similar, Resene do a great job supporting their trade customers, the way Dulux used to in the old days, and Walpamur before them!

cheers,

P (post some pics! :D )

Dulux have one (not free $5.95 so close enough) that allow you to import your own photos and use their colour charts .

I bought mine from Bunnings, but expect it would be available from any paint place.

Try this one. It's a little easier to use than Gimp. 1.3mb unless you have to download .Net 2.0 framework which is 22mb.

Well I just downloaded the resene ezypaint program for my Mac, (though I would get an idea of what colour to paint my boat this year)
bloody waste of time.
It takes AGES to load the program up, and bogs down and overloads the whole computer (this is a pretty new mac too) and then doesn't actually do anything. None of the buttons work, etc...

so better luck for you PC guys on that one.

But I thought Mac's come with its own paint program I have heard it mentioned so darn often on the How To Channels The Lab With Leo.

Well I've had a bit of a play with Resene and it works pretty well on a Win PC and does exactly what I want. Onya Midge. :)

I've made a start on painting my house with it.

If you want a good RAL colour chart for metal work and woodwork online, I found this one.

Metal Shelters Colour Chart (http://www.cadshelters.co.uk/images/stories/RAL/RAL_colour_chart.html)

This is from a company using the same RAL powder coating methods as car manufacturers so should be of a great help. It was to me as most of the colour charts out there are scanned, this one has the actual RGB colour values in the page.
