Who Can Service A Ryobi Thicknesser In Brisbane?

I have a reliable ryobi thicknesser that needs new blades - all the shops I have rung are 6 weeks waiting list at the moment - any good service centers in Brisbane that you can recommend ? I am not smart enough to do the blades myself yet.

Try C & L tools at Nudgee/Hendra, if they are busy ask them to refer you as they are part of a network, from memory there is another powertool service agent at Rocklea on the main drag near the Ipswich flyover.

Changing blades is not rocket science, for what a dealer may charge you, you could probably shoot down to Carbatec and get the blade setting tool and some free advice on how to use it.
The tool employs a magnet to hold the blade in place while you tighten everything up, there are two of these, one each end of the cutter head and they are micro adjustable, beautiful little jigger, I don't use one as my thicknesser came with it's own preset jig but I would buy one if I lost mine.
About the $80 mark for memory.

Did you get any tools with your thicknesser? Most of them come with the tools necesary to change the blades. You may even find that the blades in the thicknesser are two sided, ie you can flip them over and use the other side. They are very easy to change.

Not sure exactly what you're after, but if it's new blades, then can't go past Peacock Saws in west End. :2tsup:

If it's to get them changed, then I'd echo what the others have written.

Bring it around to my place with new blades and I will show you how. I shapen my own on a belt sander and felt wheel.

I saw bunnies had new blades last week.

Thanks to all - C&L have a 6-8 week backlog - as does the Rocklea mob. I will have a go at changing them myself and if I get too stuck come and see you conn.

We were a little nervous about changing the blades first time on our thicknesser. Was easy.

Thanks. I want to plane enough redgum to use on a picket fence. The timber was sawn with a lucas mill to 1x1.5 if i use carbitec blades will it take a long time is it practical. The blades that came with my ryobi have only done enough cypress to do three shelves in my shed and i tried to do some redgum for 1 picture frame and it took about an hour and i gave up makes a lot of noise and only takes a small amount at a time less than a mm.
