We have about 10 CM of macrocarpa which has been pushed up in loose dirt with a dozer. I have tried pressure washing it but this just pushes the dirt further into the deep coarse bark so it would seem the only way to keep a sharp chainsaw blade is to debark it. I have debarked a small amount before using a 75mm chisel mounted in 1.5 metre piece 40mm water pipe but to do 10 CM this way is not a chore I relish, any advice would be most welcome

It will get easier as the logs get older. Stack the logs up off the ground for a few months and let the sun and rain do their thing. The Macrocarpa is pretty durable, I have sawn stuff that was down for 2 years, the bark had pretty much fallen off and the heartwood was still perfect.

Cheers

Do a search on these forums for debarking, there was a relatively recent thread.
