These were made as a school exercise. The design's not mine, I happily acknowledge it's one of Tom Harringtons.

Very nice Alex.
Is the beam locked with a cam?

Yes Dan - the shape was the hardest thing to get right.

Alex,

They look great. I can guess what's going on inside with the cam lock but is there somewhere that I can get details on how they're made? I want to make some of these but have had trouble working out how to lock the beam without resorting to a threaded wooden screw. This looks like the answer.

Ditto the above. Lovely pieces! Any chance of seeing a plan here?

Since the design's not mine and the designer makes his living from woodworking, designing and teaching, I'd prefer not to post it. However, a few details:
The beam is square, with the top coved on the tablesaw.
The fence is Xylocarpus, through morticed to dake the beam. Another mortice takes the cam (laminated jarrah), which turns on the brass pin.
The lower side of the cam mortice is in the same plane as the top of the beam mortice.
The end of the cam is sort of circular, but the pin is slightly off centre.
