Hi,

I am just about to get into wood turning after years of making furniture for family and friends.

My dilemma is I have only done basic woodturning with the supervision of my brother in law in QLD while on holidays and got hooked.

What I want to know are there any wood turning classes for the starter or are there any one in Canberra that would like to instruct me.

I have just purchased a lathe and want to learn the correct way to turn.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated

If you haven't already, go see Carbatec in Canberra (used to be Southern Woodturning Supplies) - they should be able to point you in the right direction.

I think Richard Raffan lives in Canberra? No idea if he teaches, but his books are well worth the investment.

Not hard to get hooked on turning :)

Hi woodywoodpecker,

I asked Richard some time ago if he did tuition and I think he prefers to teach people with a little experience (though don't quote me on that, I could be wrong). He's definitely a good bloke, though, and a very good source of info. I can give you details of someone who does lots of tuition if you want, just email me at [email protected] and I'll pass on his details.
