Will be replacing the old falcon soon with something like a DUAL CAB 04/05 Toyota Hilux/ Nissan Navara. But the rear seats are crap. Our disabled son is phyisclly able bodied, but long in the leg and I can see great discomfort for him in the rear seat.

So.........anyone who has one of these can the rear seat be modified/rebuilt for more comfort or could I install 3 Recarco type seats or other genuine ideas.

I can't comment on the specifics of the vehicle but I'm in a 4wd club and as it happens, Gordon lewis from stratos seats gave a speil at the meeting on Monday night and talked about the specialty seating they make for just about anything including blast proof seats for personnel carriers in Iraq but I digress. From what he had to say, I imagine they could/would custom make a seat for any purpose. He wasn't a bad guy to talk to, mentioned club deals on fitting etc and they're a small family business able to do individual jobs. If your interested pm me and I'll give you his contact details. (they're at Wetherill Park NSW??)

Most of the dual cabs are limited in their rear leg romm but I think I read some reports on the new hilux that the rear cab area is now 300 mm longer with improved seating, so this might be worth checking out. I know my 9 year old daughter is starting to outgrow the rear seat in my 2000 model navara.

Try the new mitsubishi triton DC. They have changed the shape of the C pillar area to be more accommodating.

The limiting factor is the compromise between tray length and human comfort.

Have you thought of a VW Transporter DC. Superb engine, seating for six and way more carrying area in the back. Current model started in 05 I think.

Also a 4wd version.

I have a 2004 STR Navara Dual Cab and the leg room is a little tight.

Nissan now have 2 models of the Navara that they sell, the STR (japanese made) and a newer model STX (Spanish made).

The STX has a lot more leg room in the rear than the STR.

From memory in different reviews that I have read, it has the most legroom of that class. (Dual cab 4WD).

The STR Navara has more legroom than the equivalent model Hilux, that was one of the reasons I went with Navara after owning Hilux's for the previous 10 years.
