Hi All

Thanks for all the good advice. The end result is that I bought the Carbatec MC1100 last Friday.
I am very pleased with the machine, and the service given by Max and his lads at Carbatec, Sydney.
I put the machine together on Friday night and immediately found that the Variable speed system would not operate. I stripped it and cleaned up the various burrs on the shaft and keyways, gave it some oil and reassembled. It worked perfectly then.
The MC1100 may have a different stand to the 900, because this one is rock solid.

So guys, I am all set now! The only (small) step left is to learn to turn! (I made a highly complicated "thing" on Saturday- great fun)

Thanks again for all your collective help.

Tony

Sorry folks, I thought I was replying to the previous post and have actually started a new thread by the looks of it.
