I own an still an SLR film camera which I have a few filters for some time ago i discovered that Cokin maker of filters has come up with an attachment for small digital Cameras so you can still use these filters.

Many thanks - have quite a few cokin filters. Potential to give them a new lease on life.

Ray,

I own heaps of Cokin and Hoya filters. I still bid on P series fillters that come on eBay. There are arguements for and against photographers still using effects filters as the "effect" can easily be simulated in post processing software. Personally, I like to use filters to see the effects they cause on a particular photograph, I find it more fun this way rather than sitting at a computer to create an effect. I don't do much post processing as you can see by my Lorikeet picture. The only processing done on that was to resize it for the forum.

Bob I know what you mean I even have the P series Filter adaptor and a few rings from my mates dad who was a wedding photographer and worked for Kodak http://www.geocities.com/cokinfiltersystem/accessories.htm
I have a number of the preshaped Keyhole, heart pinhole pattern filters as well.

I have also made some myself one is pink opaque which gives a great look another which is white opaque gives the same effect as a soft spot.

My favourite is the Tabacco Full P125 F, its like my sunglasses which are prescription tinted with polorizing and reflective coating I have acutally taken photos through the sunglases to cut out glare using LOML small digital to have a filter made to the same would be expensive finding a place to do it well another story.

Ray,

I like using the graduated filters and the effect filters like star and multi image.

As I'm starting to buy decent lenses, I'm upgrading the lens filters to B+W brand. These filters are made by Schneider in Germany and are made from the finest optical glass. I've bought a UV protective filter and a CPL in 58mm. Expensive but worth it.

I'm about to start experimenting with gel filters on my Canon 580EX flash unit. I obtained a free swatch kit from Apollo Design Technology (makers of gel filters). These swatch filters are the perfect size for the flash head, I just need to make a holder for the gel filter. I'm interested in photographing water droplets and their effects (one of the main reasons for buying the 100mm macro lens).
