I have been using P&N gouges at a friend place. By the way you sure know his name: Jean François Escoulen. (http://www.escoulen.com/)
We both like them as they are kind of reinforced, thus have less tendency to vibrate in difficult situation.
Could you help me in finding who is the Australian producer of these marvels?

Many many thanks in advance... and good shavings to every one of you .

P&N (which stands for Patience & Nicholson, I think) is just up the road from me. :D

Here's their Aussie distributor's web page (http://www.jpmark.com.au/Text/1097036920245-4462/pC/1097026150018-4987/Cutting-Tools-and-Files) and I'm pretty sure Hegner(sp?) have the UK distribution rights.

Edit: Yep. It's Hegner. Did a google and found this: News & Events (http://www.hegner.co.uk/pages/HomePage/News_Events/news___events.html) :)

I too like the P&N gouges, they are very good!

I know that Lee Valley out of Canada sells them too.

BTW, I saw Jean-Francois a week or so ago, he and Eli Avisera were here in Japan for a Demo.

I got the new eccentric chuck that Jean-Francois is selling, it is VERY cool, I'm just waiting for the adapter to fit my lathe to come.

Cheers!

PS, the P&N Roughing gouge is a really nice hefty chunk of steel, I LIKE IT :2tsup:
