I read an interesting thread here on pool cue construction and was wanting to have a go at making one.
Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase the screw together fittings, tips, etc for a cue?
In Victoria if possible.

Try sending a PM or email to Purpleheart (http://www.woodworkforums.com/member.php?u=11703), even do a search through some of his threads to see if he has mentioned it anywhere

Ribot,

This is the thread by Purpleheart. Definately worth a read if you haven't done so already.

Yeh that was a good thread. A lot of work goes into a cue that's not spat out of a machine in China.
I hope you've got the skills. It looks like you'll need them to make one as nice as Purpleheart's.

Most good billiard shops sell the components for making cues. I bought a few with the intention of making some, I have even designed the patterns, but they are all in that "when I get time" box

thanks guys, it was Purplehearts article that got me interested.Problem is I can't find any supplier on the net, spose I better go to the phone book.

What got me started was a friend who wanted a cue repaired and shortened so I started searching this forum.
I cue repair and shortening was a success hence the interest in having a go at the whole shebang.
The reason friend wanted a short cue was to use it in a local pub pool comp which has the table close to the wall on one side.

Ribot,
I cant give you any help in oz but I get most of my cue building supplies from Atlas Billiard Supplies in the USA. Their site is www.cuestik.com (http://www.cuestik.com) The only problem with getting supplies o/s is that you need a reasonable order size to make the shipping costs worthwhile but you also need to stay under AUS$1000 to avoid import duties etc. I have a some stuff in Sydney. Maybe we can work something out.
p.s. I've been building cues for about 15 months and so far have finished 2.
