I went to Shanghai and Hong Kong a couple years ago.
If you want to take photos, then leave the Long Lens at home. The smog is so bad that the only way to get a clean shot, is to get up close.

Hong Kong is busy, so pace yourself.

Mainland China is pretty cheap, but Hong Kong is expensive(comparatively)

All in all, I'm sure you'll love the place

Have a great time!

Actually when I was there, the popular items were "Mont Blanc" pens.

I picked up a dozen "originals" ;) for about 35c.

Beijing Duck at Tiennenman Square.

Forbidden City is marvellous, check out the old wind-up toys from the UK

Go up the Yangtze River to Yang Zhou and try a tour on the canals that once (I think) connected this old capital to Beijing

The great wall is actually great, as is the Summer Palace and it should be not so busy as it is winter. Both are worth a day trip.

FOOD FOOD FOOD Take immodium and get into the offal

BEER BEER BEER Great beer

WOMEN.......... no best leave that subject alone.....

Have a great trip
