I spent little time in the shed this morning hoping to make a small plate.

I go a bit carried away when hollowing out the plate with this result.

A nice neat hole eh??

Any ideas for plate with a hole.:?

Macca this can be fixed....I know cause I have done the same thing :; :U.

you could turn a little bit to go in that that hole, maybe from some contrasting wood, then glue it in...put it back on the lathe and turn it so its all nice and flush

then you can call it a design feature .

cheers

:whs:

Or you could try a Cake Plate.. Turn up a base and stem, have the stem fit into the hole in the center of the plate

The problem with fitting a disk is you get the smart-arses coming along and saying "I know what happened there..."

One solution is to glue up a disk from different timbers instead of just one solid block - a sunburst effect or something abstract, perhaps - and glue that in so it looks as though 'twas done deliberately in the first place.

(Ahhh... the trickery we resort to. :B)

Do what Skew says but set the centre away from the actual centre. I think that would really look neat.:D:rolleyes:

I think this turned out all right.

Thanks to Skew for his idea of doing more than inserting a single piece.
