I don't know exactly where to post this one! Just been reading an interesting article on The Australian newspaper website, about authors and how they describe the Australian bush, particularly trees: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,22654329-25132,00.html
It compares the offerings by overseas writers, after visiting here, with local writings. It comes to the conclusion of a developing appreciation of the unique character our bush has, not the grandeur and spectacle of trees overseas.
Has a good list of the books discussed, which includes fiction and non-fiction, (eg. Flannery, Winton, Pakenham) so if you're a bookworm like me, its a good article.:)

The new government isn't going to do anything to improve mediocre local libraries is it?

Start looking for grants BM ,
theres lots of money freely available.
Government and Philantropic (who are usually easier to deal with)
