I really must apologize for the quality of this shot. It was taken with a cell phone camera and the road was not as smooth as I would have liked. You know, we yanks use MPH (miles per hour) over here. What would this be in KPH??? The car is a C5 Corvette (a plastic Chevy basically).

G'day Cisco,
Probably about 270 - 280 Kph.........if thats reading about 160 Mph. A quick easy conversion is to multiply Mph by 1.667 should give you Kph

Gotta ask but if you are going at that speed with one hand on the wheel and one on the camera and the road is not that smooth and you are not looking where you are going.

Are you an accident looking for a place to happen:oo:

Nah. Well maybe. But, I'm not endangering anybody. Two lane country blacktop in the middle of cow country. Nary a car in sight. And no houses either. Only a very short straightaway (about two clicks) so only good for a short blast. I don't make a habit of it. :roll:

Here's the car. Fairly comfortable and gets 28 to 30 mpg.

(My highlighting.) Nice convergence of numbers. ;)

Don't know if you've been out here, but many people in Australia are really "thingy" about speed limits. If you don't have cruise control, the threat of punitive legal measures mean you often spend more time looking at the dial than the road.

Bet it doesn't get 28-30 at the pictured speed!http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/graemlins//poke2.gif

Cheers, Adam.

You know, we yanks use MPH (miles per hour) over here. What would this be in KPH??? in whole numbers ...

160 MPH = 257 km/h
161 = 259
162 = 261
163 = 262
164 = 264
165 = 266
166 = 267
167 = 269
168 = 270
169 = 272
170 = 274
171 = 275
172 = 277
173 = 278
174 = 280
175 = 282 the steps appear unequal because of rounding

if you want to work it out yourself the conversion is 1 mile = 1.609344 km which is exact (that is unless a US mile is something other than 5280 feet long)

If you want an easy conversion that you can do in your head...well probably not at that speed...then remeber that 1 km is 5/8ths of 1 mile. You can convert either way by reversing the ratio. You just need to remember that you will always have more kilometers being the smaller measurement.

In your case 168mph divided by 5 = 33.6, multiplied by 8 = 268.8 (269) lm/h. Wow! I pity those cows.

Try keeping a 911 Porsche at 40kph in a school zone without cruise control. A momentary touch of the throttle in second gear and you are 15k over.

Even 60 is hard, the car is so willing to go.

Considering the ease (http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=160+miles+in+kilometres&btnG=Google+Search&meta=) in finding an answer, I'd say that you're having a bit of a boast about your hoonery. :wink:

Just a wee bit. :wink: Actually, I miss her. She's been put away for the long cold winter up in this frozen wasteland we call Washington. She won't see light again until April. :( She's not suited for snow very much.

Hey Don, I don't like to point this out to you, but I think you reversed your negative. Your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car. :oo: Beats me how you guys can drive like that. :U
