After a break of some years my wife and I have
purchased another caravan.

This Thursday, (6 December) we intend to take off
for Wangaratta and base the caravan there. We will
do daily trips in the car to Myrtleford, Bright, Beechworth,
Wodonga etc and visit my wife's relatives.

I have found a good Internet site, "Badgers Caravan
Reports",http://home.vicnet.net.au/~badger04/ where people have left comments on the
caravan parks they have visited. At this stage
"Painters Island Caravan Park in Wangaratta looks good.

Any comments welcome.

Allan

AllanGood onya Allan. Haven't been down that way for a long time but use to travel down there with caravan, a lot with my work many years ago. Stayed at Painters Island many times and it is nice. We also use to opt for the quieter parks and a nice little place to stay was at Chiltern. My daughter was born in Wodonga hospital while we (my wife and myself) were at that time staying on the Chiltern caravan park. That was 1975.

Also spent a lot of time around Beechworth long before it became a tourist resort. Its really nice around those areas.

Here is a picture of the outfit I had in the late 60s. IT was a 19'6" Viscount and the Ute was a Dodge 114. The 2 people you see in the picture is my mother and father, unfortunately no longer with us. I took the picture. As you can see the roads were no highways in those days.

Anyway congratulations on your new caravan and I am sure you will find it very relaxing to get away now and again. Goodonya:2tsup: mate.

Thanks Les and John for your comments.
Looking forward to hitting the road again and
see a bit more of the countryside.
Regards,

Allan
